Donker is brewed to be a companion to the Taproom Series Belgian Abbey. Pouring a deep ruby/garnet, Donker has a sweet, almost nutty, aroma with hints of toasted sugar, wood, black currant, and pie crust. This beer is rich and smooth with a complex maltiness reminiscent of black rye bread with apple butter. With a little bit of roasted malt in the recipe, there are some chocolatey characters as well.
